PET PALS: Find A Home Give A Home Pet Rescue

Saving sweet Pixie!!

Over the last few weeks you are probably wondering what happened to some of the dogs and cats we had in the paper. Our thoughts have been for the pets we rescue and if an other Rescue decide to take them we are fine with it. We are a last resort Rescue which means that we will take a dog when no one else comes forward. This is the case for Pixie who was in the Shelter for over a month after being on the street. She is eight years old and we have been watching her for a couple of weeks but unfortunately with her medical issues no one was coming forward. So last Friday we did. At 5.45pm before her deadline we decided to take her. We are very careful about where the dog is going to and wants to make sure we have plan B always in place. Believe me coordinate transport and fostering is not the easiest thing to do. We had a couple of people interested and everything was set until we find out that the dog was actually going to a family with young children. So we decided with plan B which involve a older gentleman who had called earlier and really wanted to help. Pixie was going to be transported from West Palm Beach to Bradenton this past Saturday and Rob was going to meet his new dog just like this. We were informed that Pixie have been in pain for sometime and would not be good if petted on her back. It became a little tense for a few minutes since she had to be transported in a crate and brought to a home she didn't know. This is what I call a "crazy rescue"!! This is completely wild but when it is done you pat yourself in the back and think "We did it, so proud to all of the people involved who made a difference".

The report for Pixie has been great. Talked to the foster Dad (hopefully soon adopter) and went to the Vet and actually discovered that this is not so bad after all. The weight needs to come off for sure. The stress at the shelter was so high that this poor girl reacted the wrong way. She was lucky for sure!!!!

Helping Moon!

As you know over the years we took some pretty desperate cases. We like the under dogs. Moon is under a year old and was found on the street. He is so scared, he shakes. It will take a few weeks for him to come around and know it is safe. He is fostered with other dogs and as I told Catherine the foster Mom: let the dogs do their job. They will help him to come around and that is so great to watch. Moon is 26LBS and is adorable with his white spots on this chest. Moon unfortunately either had an accident or was born with deformity. One of his paw is in bad shape and we will need to have him check by an orthopedic Veterinarian and see what can be done to make him more comfortable an opinion on what needs to be done. He is so sweet.. if you would like more information on Moon please contact Isabelle at 239-281-0739

Today's the day, I just know if someone who loves old dogs will come take me home" Will it be you or God?

Lonnie is a very sweet older girl (12 years old) 53 LBS who would love to land in a sweet home. If you are interested in helping a lost soul please contact Isabelle at 239-281-0739.

We are happy to report that Oreo was at the Veterinarian last week and was given all the shots and got the medicine he needed for his seizure. Will keep you updated on his progress. He is a good little boy. Will be neutered soon.

Mango time!!!!!!

At this time of year we do have lots of mangoes and will be canning them for our famous Jam and Chutney which will benefit the rescue. If you would like to help and cut some mangoes and eat some as well please contact Isabelle at 239-281-0739 even if it is a bag only that would be fantastic. Thanks a lot
