Wave of Vitality offers healthy shakes and teas

Filiz McNamara purchased Wave of Vitality early this summer because she wanted to help members of the community understand their health and have some tastier, healthier alternatives. It also was her opportunity to become part of the community of Fort Myers Beach.

"We moved down to Fort Myers Beach in May, and opened up shop in June. It's been crazy to see how fast we've developed regulars once people started talking about how good our teas and shakes are," McNamara said.

McNamara wants customers to be more invested in being part of the community and their own growth than the shakes themselves.

With shakes that broach every sweet treat you could imagine, from German Chocolate Cake to Strawberry Banana, there are well over 40 options for flavors and almost as many vitamin additives.

"I'm trying to make sure people know they can have a healthy alternative in their regular activities. Eventually, you could replace some of the sweets for a healthy shake, sure, but they're often solid on their own," McNamara said.

The teas are varied, herbal blends and fruit-flavored bases. They are infused with vitamins C and a range of B vitamins, including B12, to give you that little bit of pep to keep you going during the day.

Overall, it's been a success, according to McNamara, who has seen a good following, with regulars coming in daily. But she's also become more of a friend than a shop owner. People come in just for advice on a workout regimen or to check up on her.

Their health talks, educational little sit down chats about dieting and how certain vitamins can be taken at their peak effectiveness and ways to make the most use of their additions to your daily routine are free.

They offer weight-loss challenges and fitness evaluations, with McNamara even doing some of them over the phone.

"There's no season for Health, Wellness and Wave of Vitality," she said.

Wave of Vitality is at 2801 Estero Blvd.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m, Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
