Tickets are still available for the 13th annual Tapa Hop, an event that showcases seven Fort Myers Beach restaurants by trolley transportation.

Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Intern Caitie Kearns said the event started as a way to showcase the restaurants during the off season to grab people's attention when times are slow.

"Our restaurants are great places to go in and dine in the off season," she said, adding that it's about showing locals and tourists the great restaurants. "People can sit and drink and socialize."

Bayfront Bistro, Castaways Bar & Grill, Junkanoo on the Beach, Sunset Beach Tropical Grill, Nauti Parrot Dock Bar, Pinchers and South Beach Grille are the restaurants participating in the Sept. 20, event, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m.

The event will begin at South Beach Grille and end at Castaway's, providing everyone with the chance to come together and join each other for fun and drinks.

"It's is a really great fun socializing event," Kearns said.

Tickets are $35 before the event, and $45 if still available the day of the event.

"This year we have five trolleys. Each hold about 40 people. We are limited to our space and it's more than 80 percent full. We have about 20 spots left as of today," Kearns said last Tuesday afternoon.

The event's theme is the United Nations with each trolley depicting a different country, United States, Germany, Ireland, Mexico and Jamaica. The only two trolleys still open are Mexico and Ireland.

Kearns said participants are welcome to dress up.

While individuals are traveling to the different restaurants, prizes and raffles will be offered on the trolleys.

"There are captains for each of the trolleys. They are in charge of the raffle prizes and the spirit of the event," Kearns said.

Tickets opened to the public two weeks prior to the event, providing chamber members with the first opportunity to participate.

The Tapa Hop also includes a poker run at each restaurant stop. Individuals can participate for $5 with the chance to win money.

Kearns said the restaurants will prepare a minimum of three to a maximum of six small appetizers for individuals to taste. She said they wanted to make sure they give event goers options, while accommodating for any allergies someone may have.
