Riess allegedly killed her husband and then fled to Florida. She befriended Hutchinson on Fort Myers Beach because of their similar appearance; then, she allegedly shot Hutchinson in her room at Snug Harbour at Marina Village. From there, Riess stole Hutchinson's vehicle and removed money from her bank account before fleeing to Ocala and then to South Padre Island. She was identified in a restaurant by a resident and arrested by the local police department and the U.S. Marshal Service April 19. She returned to Lee County for murder charges April 30.

Riess remains in custody on a no-bond hold, the press release states.
