The sound of a helicopter circling San Carlos Island filled the air late Monday night.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at Sunnyland Mobile Home Court at 9:30 p.m.after Daniel Caron called in to report a stabbing. His neighbor, Angela Breidinger, 39, had walked over to his home with a wound on her neck. She told him someone had cut her neck, according to the deputy's report.

When the Sheriff's Office arrived, Breidinger said her friend, James Rugh, 48, had cut her throat and ran, but she didn't know where.

The Sheriff's Office deputies did a safety sweep with a K-9 tracker of the trailer Breidinger was staying in, but did not find him nearby. She told the deputies that he might have ran to the shrimp docks, and gave the deputies a description. Rugh has a tattoo on each arm that say "BAM."

Breidinger was transported to Health Park Hospital.

Another neighbor at the mobile home park told the deputies they'd seen Rugh leave the area on foot while the deputies had been searching the area with the dog, and said he was headed in the direction of shrimp docks.

Two deputies located Rugh behind the Beach Seafood Market and detained him. According to the report, Rugh spontaneously told the deputies something, but the message was redacted from the report.

Rugh was charged with one count of aggravated battery. He's currently in custody at the Lee County Jail. His bond has not yet been set and his scheduled trial date is July 9.
