Tapa Hop rescheduled Nov. 14

October 25, 2017
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

If you're not on the trolley...you'll wish you were.

This event got blown away by Hurricane Irma, but it's rescheduled.

The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce's annual Tapa Hop event is open to the public and to Chamber members. Attendees will ride a trolley with their group to different restaurants on the island for drinks and hors d'oeuvres while getting to have fun and network. The 2017 Tapa Hop is set for Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

While it's been a Chamber event for 15 years years, it fits perfectly into Director Jacki Liszak's philosophy of letting adults play.

The event is themed around music this year and each team will decorate their trolley accordingly. Liszak strongly encourages costumes, too.

The event also encompasses a poker run; there are draws at each stop for prizes. All the money raised benefits the Chamber.

There are six trolley stops this year: South Beach Grille, Castaways Bar & Grill, Salty Crab Bar and Restaurant, Bayfront Bistro, Island View, and Pinchers. The restaurants provide the tapas for each stop and a cash bar. Each trolley fits 44 people and there will be five trolleys for the event.

Check in begins at 4:30 p.m.and trolleys will depart from South Beach Grille, 7205 Estero Boulevard.

Tickets go on sale for the public two weeks before the event and are $35 per person or $45 at the door if they are still available. Chamber members can purchase a banner sponsorship to be hung from the trolley for $50. Call 454-7500 to get on the waiting list or email events@fmbchamber.com.

"It's a great way to showcase our island restaurants," Liszak said. "It's a lot of fun, you get to dress up and meet new people."
