July 3, 2017
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

With such a great turnout during the last combined Cinco de Drinko Cinco de Mayo music-festival-style celebration between Point Ybel and Beach Records, organizers are pumped to offer a Katie Lyon/Dueling Mic Night and Beer Release showing within the Kelly Crossing Plaza at Point Ybel (16120 San Carlos Blvd #4) and Beach Records (around the back of the same building, #10b) Saturday evening, July 8, starting at 8 p.m.

Artists and musicians from around the area will be performing during the dual-business music fest, and a very special beer release will be on tap that evening, named after event coordinator and local artist and musician Frankie Colt.

"We are going to have musicians performing back and forth between the brewery's and Beach Records' stages all night,"?she said. "Katie Lyon is a musician who goes between Nashville and Southwest Florida, so she'll be there with her new album. We already have a ton of people signed up, and everyone gets the opportunity to play for their time to shine. Everyone needs that; there's no greater feeling than getting up on stage and doing a set that you're super proud of."

Frankie has been a musician all her life, performing locally for the last few years.

"Usually I?put together tons of showcases around Southwest Florida. I wanted to do something where any artist can play and sign up I've always wanted to do something like this," she said. "Growing up in the music scene, I?know how hard it is to get into places to play, and by having this music festival, we can provide fellow musicians that opportunity. With each musician having the chance to get up there and perform two or three songs, that offers a lot of opportunity to our local music scene."

While bands are rockin' back and forth between the two jammin' businesses, artists, merchants and vendors will have fabulous wares and artisanal offerings available.

"The artists did so well during the last show, we wanted to be sure to offer that again, as well,"?Frankie said. "Live artist, Shelby, will be painting to the music that evening. Her mom makes custom beer and wine glasses, and made a special Frankie Colt brew batch for the festival that night."

Speaking of the special brew, Frankie is honored the brewery crafted a beer to her ultimate liking, and it will be flowing as much as the amazing music that evening.

"First of all, I am so flattered to have a beer named after me. The owner of Point Ybel suggested doing a beer release show, and I'm just so excited for everyone to try this brew,"?she said. "It's called Transbrewtation, after my new album, Transmutation, that was released in February. It's a blend of dragonfruit, raspberries and madagascar vanilla. The color is this bright red magenta color and it's so pretty and tastes so good!"

Frankie is excited to be handing out download cards of her new album like crazy Saturday night, too. It'll be the perfect place to hear some of your fave local artists, learn of other local artists, get some fab art, sip on some tasty new beach brews and along with all the awesome music flowing from Beach Records that night, they're offering something very special that evening, as well.

"We're going to have 20 percent off everything people buy the day of the show records, CDs, T-shirts," said Marty Bourgeois, owner of the cool San Carlos Boulevard record shop, which recently celebrated it two-year anniversary in the Kelly Crossing Plaza.

"Just come out, hang out, have a good time. Support local musicians, artists and businesses," Frankie said.
