A beach benefit for island local Dale Owens will be held at Valerie's Lounge, 17264 San Carlos Blvd., Sunday, June 4, from noon to 6 p.m.

As organizer and local musician John Hyatt explains, "Dale was recently in a bad motorcycle accident, and he needs our help. He shattered his pelvis and needs help with his medical bills. He's a great guy, local resident, who's always been there for people in need. Now it's his turn to get the help he needs."

During the special rain-or-shine benefit inside the cool establishment, there will be plenty of raffles, prizes, silent auctions and 50/50s, as well as live music all day, including from the Flying Hasselhoffs, Bite the Bullet and Zen.

"Our full line-up that day will be local beach solo artist Geo at noon, local duo Zen (Christine and Brian Gunder) at 1 p.m., Ted haney and His Minions at 2 p.m., A200 at 3, Bite the Bullet at 4, and The Flying Hasselhoffs at 5," John said.

Commemorative T-shirts will be available, as well, with all proceeds going to help out Dale and his medical bills. To make a donation in the form of a raffle prize or silent auction item, call 239-258-0256.

"Make sure you come by and take part, check out the silent auctions, get yourself tickets for the 50/50 and random drawings and prizes throughout the benefit," John said. "Thank you to all of the businesses on Fort Myers Beach and its residents for helping out and participating in doing what we can to help this great island local. We hope to see you there Sunday."
